The Rural Municipality of Mountain is located in the Northwest region of Manitoba and is situated along the Duck Mountain Provincial Forest in the South and the Porcupine Provincial Forest in the North. Our Municipality covers approximately 2,607 square kilometers and is split into two physical sections and separated by the R.M. of Minitonas. The population of the Rural Municipality of Mountain according to the last census was 1,103 residents. The Local Government District of Mountain was incorporated on January 1, 1945 and with the changes to the Municipal Act, became the Rural Municipality of Mountain on January 1, 1997.

This Municipality is governed by the Head of Council (Reeve) and six elected Councilors. The office is staffed by the CAO, Finance Officer, Finance and Administrative Clerks.

ATTENTION DOG OWNERS: If you live in Birch River, Mafeking, Cowan or Pine River and own a dog you are required by By-Law No. 02/06 to register your dog yearly. The annual licence fee of $10.00 per dog must be paid prior to January 31, 2016.
